How to choose watermelon

If your previous watermelon choices were as successful as playing a lottery, then you need to follow these clues to always pick the sweetest and the most flavorful watermelon:

  • Look for a yellow to orange field spot on the bottom, your watermelon will have loads of flavor.
  • Dark and dull (ripe)
  • Larger “webbing” (sign of sweet watermelon)
  • Heavy and uniform size are the sweetest one
  • Dry stem (ripe)

On other hand, skip the watermelon with:

  • White field spot that will result in flavorless watermelon
  • Shiny (not ripe)
  • Small “Webbing”( bland taste)
  • Elongated ones are usually more watery than the ball shaped ones
  • Green stem (green watermelon)
