Chocolate-orange-coconut lava porridge

Plate with Chocolate porridge

Hello everyone,

Did you know that a chocolate river existed?

It did! Back in 1971, the famous chocolate river in which Augustus Gloop almost drowned in the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory film was made out of 15,000 gallons of water mixed with chocolate and cream.  With all the cream, the river spoiled fairly quickly and the cast revealed it left a terrible smell.

We are not after chocolate river today, but how about some Chocolate orange coconut lava porridge for breakfast?

Chocolate-orange-coconut lava porridge

Chocolate coconut porridge with orange zest flavoring, nuts, a splash of dairy-free yogurt and seasonal fruits on top? NO SUGAR OR SWEETENER ADDED.  It takes the same time to prepare as the regular oatmeal. I go for it, how about you? Genius transformation of an old favorite.  The thick chocolate lava of porridge perfumes the kitchen with chocolate cake unique-like scent.  Coconut and orange zest add a character, dates add a natural sweetness, and fresh fruits balance the richness of the chocolate. It’s a 100% happy mood for the rest of the day guaranteed! Kids are happy! Parents are happy!

You know what chocolate does to your mood, right? But the most important thing here is that we still eat healthy, vitamins and nutrients packed breakfast with a happy, content smile on our face.

“Research to date supports that chocolate can be enjoyed as part of a balanced, heart-healthy diet and lifestyle.” –  National Confectioners Association

I was preparing to defend against any objections you might have to this kind of recipe, but I couldn’t come up with any.  Do you have one? Surprise me in a comment below 😉 If you don’t have any objections, run to the kitchen, prepare your porridge base within a couple of minutes, pack it into a jar (to fix breakfast literally in seconds!) and get ready to receive compliments, smiles and hugs from your loving lot tomorrow morning! Hold on, I came up with one objection.  After you’ll have about 50 portions of chocolate porridge in a row I suggest you spend some time and cook our Lenten orange pie or banana muffins just to add some variety to your menu.

To add some fun to the chocolate breakfast presentation, here are some facts about chocolate that you may not know:

  • The Aztec emperor Montezuma drank 50 cups of cacao a day from a golden chalice.
  • Benjamin Franklin sold chocolate in his print shop in Philadelphia.
  • In Mayan times the cocoa bean was used as currency as it was considered to be worth more than gold dust. Cultivation of the beans was restricted so the value of cocoa beans as money would not go down.
  • So many Toblerone bars are sold each year that, if they were to be laid end to end, they would go on for 62,000km which is longer than the circumference of the Earth. – Source

Are you still here? Chocolaty-orangy-coconutty lava packed with good mood is waiting for you to dig in to!

After eating this incredible meal, you will become a pinch happier, I promise!

Bon Appétit!
